We have received an overwhelmingly positive response regarding the release of our new radar viewer however there have been a number of queries, mostly technical, about the new display. In response to your questions we have prepared a number of frequently asked questions (FAQs) that you may find useful in understanding how the display works and we have included some tips on how to save your preferences.
- How can I keep my radar viewer settings?

We do not currently use technologies like cookies to automatically
keep your settings, however you can bookmark your settings
for your radar site as follows:
- Go to: www.bom.gov.au/weather/radar/
- Select your radar
- Select your settings
- Click on the 128km or 256km link above the radar image.
- Save the web page as a bookmark or favourite.
- Can I still get the simpler radar image without the new layers?

Yes, you can still get the latest simple radar image.
Go to: Radar - latest image - How can I get the radar to work on my mobile phone?
- You can use the simple image version, see previous question. Radar images may also be available from other web service providers.
- Why aren't the radar images looping?
- The latest image
is displayed first. To play the loop click the play button.
- What is UTC time?
- UTC is an international 24 hour time and date standard. (Coordinated Universal Time), which is the same as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). Local times are also shown further below the radar.
- How do I get to the Weather and Warnings page?
- The link to the Weather and Warnings page is in the Bureau banner.

- Where can I get more information?
- The Radar Help section includes information about the new radar viewer, radar images and the radar network. It is linked from the top of radar pages.
